Shuttle Service
Shuttles run approximately every 30 minutes from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. Choose the 9:30 am departure and enjoy the river before the crowds arrive. Our 8-seater shuttle service is included for the Adventure Route.
Quality Equipment
Adult and children’s life jackets, single or double paddles, and 26-litre waterproof containers are provided for your belongings. All equipment is included in the price.

Enjoy a route of up to 6 km (round trip from the Canoë Borg base to the dam). Allow approximately 1 to 2 hours, depending on your pace and the time spent relaxing on the pebble beaches.
There are no time restrictions – you are free to choose your distance and enjoy the river at your own pace.

What is the current water level?
The water level of the Hérault River naturally changes throughout the season depending on weather conditions.
Before each departure, our team checks the navigation conditions daily to ensure your safety and comfort.

Do you need to know how to swim to go canoeing?
Yes. For safety reasons, all participants must be able to swim at least 25 metres and be comfortable submerging themselves in water.
What is the difference between the Adventure Route and the Riverside Discovery Route?
The 14 km Adventure Route includes a shuttle transfer (approximately 20 minutes) to the starting point at Moulin de Bertrand. The route takes around 4 to 4.5 hours to complete, and the last shuttle departs from Canoë Borg at 1:30 pm.
The Riverside Discovery Route starts directly from the Canoë Borg base. You are free to paddle up to 3 km upstream (6 km round trip) and can start at any time during the day. Both routes are easy, family-friendly and suitable for all experience levels.
Free shaded parking is available for all our visitors.
How long does a canoe trip on the Hérault River take?
Depending on the route you choose, allow between 1 hour and 4.5 hours on the water.
How long do your routes usually take?
The 14 km Adventure Route takes approximately 4 to 4.5 hours, including time for swimming, relaxing and picnicking.
The Riverside Discovery Route usually takes around 2.5 hours, including breaks.
There is no strict time limit, but all participants must return before 6:30 pm.
Can we bring our dog?
Absolutely! Dogs are welcome free of charge and can comfortably travel in the middle of the canoe or on a paddle board.
Can I go canoeing while pregnant?
Unfortunately, for safety reasons, canoeing is not permitted during pregnancy.
Is smoking allowed on the water?
Smoking is not permitted while on board a canoe or kayak.
However, you may smoke on the pebble beaches along the route. Please remember to take all cigarette butts with you.
From what age can children go canoeing?
- Children aged 6 and over can take part in the 14 km Adventure Route when accompanied by two adults.
- Children aged 3 and over can enjoy the Riverside Discovery Route when accompanied by two adults.
We provide life jackets suitable for children.
How many people can fit in a canoe?
- 1 person: Kayak
- 2 people: Two-seater canoe
- 3 people: Three-seater canoe (maximum weight 250 kg)
All our boats are stable, comfortable and suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers.
Is a guide provided?
No guide is required for individual visitors on our self-guided routes.
However, holiday camps and youth groups must be accompanied by our qualified canoe-kayak instructor.
Can we stop for a picnic?
Of course!
Both routes offer plenty of pebble beaches and shaded spots where you can stop for a swim, relax or enjoy a picnic.

- Children up to 12 years old benefit from discounted rates.

What should I bring?
To make the most of your canoe trip in the Hérault Gorges, we recommend bringing:
- Water shoes
- Sunscreen

Is parking available?
Yes.
We offer free shaded parking exclusively for our customers, just a short walk from the departure point.
Do I need to book in advance?
Advance booking is highly recommended, especially during weekends and public holidays.
Booking ahead allows you to choose your preferred departure time and type of boat:
- Single kayak
- Two-seater canoe
- Three-seater canoe
- Stand-up paddle board
However, booking is not mandatory and you are welcome to visit us on the day.
Are there any rapids?
Yes, there are around ten small rapids along the route.
They are not technical or dangerous and simply add a little extra fun to the experience.
Do the routes pass through the gorges near Pont du Diable?
No.
Our routes finish approximately 3 km upstream from Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and around 8 km upstream from Pont du Diable.
Is it possible to light a fire during the trip?
No.
Lighting fires is strictly prohibited in the Hérault Gorges due to the risk of wildfires.
The Hérault Gorges are a protected Natura 2000 site.

Canoë Borg is located 3 km beyond Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, heading towards Causse-de-la-Selle. You will first pass a Canoë Borg cabin. If it is closed, continue for another 500 metres to reach our main reception cabin. Free private parking is available exclusively for our customers.
